Schools in Canada are the main driver of the great success that the Canadian education system it is harvesting all over the world today.
At CLS we have been managing the program of School Year in Canada For more than 15 years, we have had the opportunity to send students to many schools throughout the Canadian geography.
All the students who studied a school year in a Canadian school have had fantastic experiences but thanks to the comments and evaluations of each of them, we have prepared this ranking with their favorites.
WHAT FACTORS HAVE WE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT TO CREATE OUR RANKING?
Population
None of the schools we have selected is located in big cities like Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa or Quebec. Schools located in large urban centers generally have a higher price and we do not consider that this price difference brings with it a higher academic level or the student will enjoy a better experience. On the contrary, you will observe that all the schools in this ranking are located in medium-sized or small towns.
Despite the fact that Canada is a very safe country in general, the populations in our ranking have particularly high levels of comfort and safety. They are places where international students can move easily on their own in a sheltered and protected environment.
School academic level
Again, the academic level of education in Canada is outstanding and recognized worldwide. The schools in this ranking, in particular, all have a high academic level that will allow our students to progress with levels of demand more than reasonable for any student regardless of their initial academic level. All schools have a support program for international students that helps them catch the rhythm of the rest of their classmates thanks to different tutorials, reinforcements, curricular adaptations …
Percentage of international / Spanish speaking students
Canadian schools are receiving more and more international students and are very successful in Latin America. Some schools in cities such as Toronto or Vancouver have a fairly high percentage of Spanish-speaking students, although without reaching the levels of schools in Ireland and England. In selected schools on this list it is inevitable to meet other international students (including Spanish-speaking) but the percentage is less than in large urban centers and we also observed greater interaction with local students.
Local Coordinators
They all have local coordinators whose only job is ensure the welfare of foreign students that have been accepted by the school. The task of these local coordinators is to select the host families interested in participating in the program, assign the families to the participating students, manage the enrollment at the school and monitor the performance of our students weekly during their stay. The local coordinators of these particular schools have shown outstanding treatment towards our students in all these respects.
Host families
All the students who have participated in one of these schools have expressed great satisfaction for the host family that welcomed them during their stay. One of the strengths of the program School year in Canada they are the host families. In these schools in particular, everything has been outstanding experiences.
Subjects offered at the school
In addition to the typical core subjects such as math, history, English, or science; all schools They offer different very interesting and novel electives, above all, for students from the Spanish educational system. Some examples that we find are: video game development, entrepreneurship, medical emergencies, nutrition, automobile mechanics, photography, carpentry, dance …
Extracurricular activities available
Each school offers a selection of extracurricular activities that, again, are very interesting and novel for Spanish students: Music band, debate club, environment club, choir, school newspaper, United Nations club …
sports
The most common are athletics, European football (soccer), baseball, basketball, and ice hockey. Many also offer swimming, golf, martial arts, skiing, horse riding …
